A day on Velek'troOn the Pink Granite Coast

The Pink Granite Coast with an E‑bike

Fitted helmets, fully charged batteries, drinks and breakables in backpacks, we are ready for our day on Vélek’tro, the electric-assisted bike of the Pink Granite Coast!

The green bike!

We stopped off for 3 days at the campsite in Trebeurden, and when we saw with our friends that they were renting electrically assisted bikes, we booked directly. Discover this part of Brittany without a car, with the freedom of a bike but without the hassle of too steep climbs, the foot?
And what’s more, it’s eco-friendly!

Braving the Breton relief by bike, too easy!

A nice start, it climbs dry up to the panorama of the Bihit headland. Hop, 3 small clicks and the assistance enters the track. We quickly get used to the electricity which takes over from our calves! But it’s all in the dosage, the guy at the campsite warned us: the autonomy of the battery will depend on our motivation to pedal. We’ll see how brave we are at the finish!

Spotlight on the coast

At the top of the point, the panorama is just sublime. Full light on the first chaos of pink granite, and the islands that punctuate a sea of oil. Moreover, on the horizon, the silhouette of the Isle of Batz in front of Roscoff can be seen.

By bicycle on the crossroads

But no more daydreaming: we get back in the saddle by following the markings of the “Vélomaritime”. We move away for a while from the coast (and the cars!) to follow small roads undulating between granite houses, undergrowth and meadows. Pretty surprises await us along the way, such as the chapel and the menhir of Saint-Uzec. We leave our mounts for a moment to improvise some souvenir photos like “Tour de Pisa”.

Idyllic landscape for blessed cyclists

Soon we return to the coast. The path runs along the bay from Sainte-Anne to Trégastel and passes between ponds where a few birds rest. Peaceful.
The castle of Costaérès on its pink granite islet, the lighthouse of Ploumanac’h which emerges behind the chaos… We remain speechless! Our stomachs are making themselves heard. We leave our velek’tro on the racks, looking for a quiet place to picnic. We find a small beach almost just for us, coiled up behind some rocks. Luxury, peace and quiet and taste buds full!

New electric bike enthusiasts

But soon the tide calls us to order. It’s time to start the return trip!
Is it the digestion or is it going up a bit more in that direction? The energy gauges begin to drop and it is with a bit of suspense that the last kilometres are covered. Who is going to stall before the finish? But in the end, everyone goes back to the campsite without any problems, delighted with this day in the open air of Brittany and conquered by the electric bike!

Suddenly, as we start skating in the sand that has taken the path: THE postcard view!
